Came here to celebrate an anniversary and the staff were so kind. The food was great! The decor and ambiance left a lot to be desired.
One of the best places that I’ve been to for dinner. We went for my birthday. Jose and Frank were excellent in making us feel special. The ambience is great..
the food was excellent!!
The escargot and the oysters are a must!
This is one of the rare occasions I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Not just a good meal but a truly fabulous dining experience. The table service was phenomenal, both from the level of professionalism and personality along with a high level of attentiveness. Of course the food was sensational. It was fine cuisine presented well but also in satisfying amounts (not 3 peas around 1 slice). I can't say enough about the deliciousness combined with top-tier service and ambience. A 'must experience' at least once in a lifetime!
Good service at all the tables, food was amazing, all the desserts were delicious and was hard to decide which to pick, parking is a little difficult so come early, make a reservation.
The steaks were cooked to perfection, as were the Oysters Rockefeller, the seared scallops and the chocolate mousse. The service was impeccable. While I do agree with some reviews that the restaurant was more crowded then what we're typically used to during this period, I thought the food taste and presentation deserve a high score.
Unfortunately, our experience was marred by the waiter automatically adding a >20% gratuity to our bill for a party of four. This is against the law in many places, and we felt pressured to leave it despite not agreeing with the amount. Be aware of these practices and exercise your right to choose your tip.
Iron Gate (IG) is a gem. It's one of those last standing "old school" fine dining where you can travel back in time and pretend you're an affluent connossieur of some sorts in the 80s or 90s. I'm almost certain they keep the interior a bit "run-down" just for that.
But don't let the wear and tear grab your attention from the "class" and it exudes. You are definitely not walking into a modern date night. Think more of it as a classy dinining experience, straight out of the history book with abundant flambes going live all around you, in a very family mansion type of setting. Oh yes, there's also some funky dank smell when you enter but you'll get used to it.
Now where IG shines is the food. The fetuccine vongole was impeccable - sturdy and soft at the same time. The escargot was well done - not too salty and greasy. Fresh salads, and reasonable wine selection and price. The only blemish was at least with the NY steak and fliet mignon. Both were a bit tough based on fine dining standards and a bit over-cooked (although we asked for medium).
The star of the show was the banna foster flambe. We really enjoy this personal touch and show in other places, and IG does not disappoint. Butter, brown sugar, and plenty of rum and other liquors. Bananas came out perfect over smooth vanilla ice-cream.
IG isn't your milleinnial or gen-z date scene nor business meal. It is a way to live through history and nostalgia. The patrons are local seniors largely, celebrating something with the family and friends. The entire place is cozy and heartful. And that's what makes IG live on and be special.
It is an upscale restaurant. People usually visit here with family. I saw a lot of people celebrating their birthday. Looks like it is a popular place to celebrate birthday.
It has a sepearte bar section.
